Locate the Carver case before ordering anything

   Start with the case number when available

   Carver County Court Administration calls the case number the easiest locator. Keep the complete number exactly as shown in MCRO or another court notice.

   If the number is unknown, supply more than a name

   The copy instructions ask for each participant’s full name and date of birth and, for criminal matters, the offense date and charges when known.

   Treat non-conviction cases as a special search problem

   Carver warns that a criminal case without a conviction must be searched by case number; searching by the defendant’s name will not produce it. A missing name hit therefore cannot close the inquiry.

   Request specific filed documents

   The court cautions that “all documents” can return more than needed. Identify the judgment, sentencing order, complaint, or other public document that answers the task.

Before paying for a Carver copy, pin down these four items

  If a non-conviction case is involved, the case number is especially important because defendant-name search will not surface it.

  Exact document

  A citation and a sentencing order are separate documents for fee purposes, even when they belong to the same case.

  Plain or certified

  The court defines a certified copy as a court-stamped and sealed copy. Removing the staple from a multi-page certified document defeats that certification.

  Delivery/payment method

  Carver lists mail, phone, and in-person payment/request channels. Confirm the current charge for the specific documents rather than multiplying pages by assumption.
